On the 21st of April 2012, a competition among Ukrainian navigation map manufacturers was held by a popular online travel guide Doroga.ua. All in all, 7 different navigation maps were represented in the championship: 5 in the general class and 2 out of competition.

Carte Blanche Ukraine team showed the best net time on a complicated route via 10 intermediate points in Kyiv and Chernihiv Regions, covering over 500 km. Taking into account the penalty time applied by the organizers, we won the second place, coming only 3 minutes behind the first one.

It stands to mention that the high result in the contest was achieved by our team by virtue of using high-quality, while very affordable, navigation solution:

DON’T PANIC software developed by Mireo company, Croatia, provides on-board navigation for Android smartphones and tablets. A smartphone with this application is a full-featured substitution for a specialized navigation device: the user can browse the map, search for addresses (including complicated ones with fractions and letters in house numbers) and POIs, create routes to a chosen point or via several points, exchange coordinates with other users, and much more. Mireo DON’T PANIC provides voice guidance for each maneuver along the route in a chosen language, so the driver does not need to watch the screen. The application does not require Internet connection.

The developers of Mireo DON’T PANIC paid much attention to provide the best possible user experience: the main functions are always available within one or two taps from everywhere in the app. The application does not require much RAM space and works lightning-fast on all compatible devices.

Mireo DON’T PANIC includes a detailed CarteBlanche™ Ukraine map. The current map version includes detailed coverage of 616 settlements, 438 400 km of roads and about 67 400 POIs. We are glad to announce the release of CarteBlanche Ukraine 2011.09 (2011.10) map version for CarteBlanche Navigator, iGO 8, iGO Primo as well as CarteBlanche Ukraine NT software!
As compared to the previous 2011.06 (2011.07) map version, the changes in the new version are as follows:

• The total road network coverage is increased by 4 500 km.
• Detailed coverage added for 82 settlements, including the cities of Oleksandriia (Kirovohrads'ka oblast'), Kakhovka (Khersons'ka oblast'), Khotyn (Chernivets'ka oblast') and Pryluky (Chernihivs'ka oblast'), as well as all settlements in Makarivs’kyi raion of Kyivs'ka oblast'.
• Street network and address database in Ivano-Frankivs'k, Sumy and Kherson substantially updated.
• Building footprints added for 12 settlements, including the cities of Ivano-Frankivs'k, Sumy, Oleksandriia, Pryluky and Khotyn.
• Number of POIs is increased to about 67 400
• A large number of feedback messages processed.

Therefore, now CarteBlanche Ukraine 2011.09 (2011.10) contains a detailed coverage of 616 settlements (47.4% of the Ukrainian population), including 123 cities; almost all of this coverage (41.8% of population) includes address search. The map features a full coverage of all settlements in 8 districts of Kyiv Region (Bilotserkivs'kyi, Boryspil's'kyi, Brovars'kyi, Kaharlyts'kyi, Kyievo-Sviatoshyns'kyi, Obukhivs'kyi and Vasyl'kivs'kyi), a uniquely detailed coverage of in-block passages in residential districts in Kyiv, as well as coverage of in-block passages in many other cities. The total length of road coverage is 438 400 km, including a large number of unpaved roads.
Legal users of CarteBlanche Navigator, iGO 8 and iGO Primo software can download the new map version from NNG official map update portal. The portal is available in 10 languages, including Ukrainian.
